Jean-Philippe Bergeron was born in Saint-Hyacinthe (Quebec) in 1978, grew up in the  Gaspé Peninsula, and currently lives in Montréal. He has won the Prix Alain-Grandbois in 2004 for Visages de laffolement and has since published five books at Éditions Poètes de Brousse: Débris des ruches, Ombres, Géométrie fantôme (short-listed for the Prix de poésie Estuaire-Bistrot Leméac and the Prix Émile-Nelligan), Les Planches anatomiques and, in 2019, États et abîmes, for which he won the Grand prix du Festival international de la poésie in 2020.
