Alice Notley is the prolific author of more than 35 books of poetry and prose. Associated with the second-generation New York School poets, she considers herself an internationalist. She has been a full-time poet since 1970, supporting herself by poetry-connected activity: readings, publication, part-time teaching of creative writing, grants and awards. She says, "As far as I'm concerned my books are the embodiment of everything I am and think, they are my accomplishment and identity. I am a poet and little else." Her latest is Certain Magical Acts (Penguin, 2016). Presented in collaboration with Carleton University.
