Poet, novelist and essayist Nicole Brossard was born in Montreal in 1943. She has won numerous literary awards, including the Governor General's Award in 1974 and 1984, the Prix Athanase David, The Canada Arts Council Molson Prize and the Prix international de littérature franí§aise Benjamin Fondane for her body of work. Since 1965 Nicole Brossard has published over thirty books, including Le désert mauve,InstallationsandLa lettre aérienne and most of them have been translated in many languages. She also co-authored l'Anthologie de la poésie des femmes au Québecand the documentary filmSome American Feminists.She is a member of the Académie des Lettres du Québec, an Officerthe Order of Canada, a Chevalière de l'Ordre national du Québec and a Companion of the Order of Arts and Letters of Quebec.
