J.Roger Léveillé has authored some thirty books of fiction, poetry, essays and hybrid writing. He has been published in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and France. An international colloquium on his work took place in 2005 and he was professor and writer in residence at the Université de Rennes II in 2009. Born in Winnipeg in 1945, J.Roger Léveillé has studied literature in Canada and France and has been awarded scholarships by the Canadian and French governments. While pursuing a career as a journalist and director at Radio-Canada, he also produced author profiles for television, curated special issues for literary journals and was featured as guest speaker at several national and international conferences. He was literary editor at Éditions du Blé and Secretary of the Winnipeg International Writers Festival for many years. J.R. Léveillé was awarded the Prix Champlain in 2002 by the Conseil de la Vie franí§aise en Amérique and won the Province of Manitoba's Prix Rue-Deschambault in 2003 for his novel Le soleil du lac qui se couche. He also won the Prix littéraire du Manitoba franí§ais in 1994 for his poetry and the Prix du Consulat général de France í  Toronto in 1997 for his total body of work. In 1999, he was inducted into the Temple de la renommée de la Culture in Manitoba for his contribution to literature, and was awarded the Manitoba Lifetime Writing and Publishing Award in 2007, as well as the Province of Manitoba's Prix de distinction en arts in 2012.
