Jayde's relationship with spoken word is one of spontaneity. Writing her first poem as a guttural response to a traumatic experience, the medium became a narration of Jayde's healing journey and something that she associates with both resilience and reclamation. Her first live performance having occurred unbeknownst to her friends and family. Jayde treats each opportunity to speak as an opportunity to reclaim a little more, and for that, she is so grateful. In her fourth year of studies, Jayde is the proud President of the Conflict Studies and Human Rights Student Association at the University of Ottawa. She spends her spare time reading, painting, and dancing to Joanna Newsom in her bedroom alone.
