Annie St-Jean is passionate about slam poetry. She is the Official Slammaster of SlamOutaouais (Ligue Québécoise de slam), the official announcer at slam competitions, as well as the coordinator of the Secondary School Grand Slam. A slam poet herself, her poetry has stood out consistently within the Ligue Québécoise de slam: not only was she the fifth season regional champion in 2012, she has had the opportunity to shine in regional finals several seasons in a row, and has participated in four National Grand Slams, including one where her team won gold. Her poems have been published in four group collections of Quebec slam, and she has performed in slam shows in Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, and in the Outaouais. In 2014, she was awarded the Flamand littéraire Littérature orale - Télé-Québec for her poem "Main d'homme" at the Outaouais Authors' Recognition Gala. She has a degree in didactic and professional writing and teaches French at the secondary level, where she has the opportunity to share her passion for words with her teenaged students. She also gives workshops to groups of all ages, introducing them to slam, slam writing and poetry rewriting. In 2014, Éditions Vents d'Ouest published Annie's first novel for young people, Le ríªve de Sadako.
