Marshall Hryciuk, publisher of Imago Press, Toronto, grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. in Philosophy. He has been awarded prizes for his haiku in Croatia, England and Japan. Since attending Renku North America in New York City in 1992 and a return visit that year to Honshu Island, he has led over 40 renku sessions in Britain, Crete, Japan and the United States as well as across Canada at Haiku Canada's Annual Weekend meetings. Among his many books are this is hilarious (1985), Singed Leaves (1989), Nietzsche's Brolly (1998), Persimmon Moons (1998) Haiku Splash (1998) In Search of Tatiana (2013) and Petals in the Dark, 15 renku led and edited by Marshall Hryciuk (catkin press, 2015). Marshall resides in Toronto with his wife, the gardener-poet, Karen Sohne.
