Poet Stéphane Despatie is also or has been the publisher of a literary journal, a bookseller, a literary and theater critic, a poetry editor, the executive director of a literary press, the administrative director of a multidisciplinary festival and the managing director of a classical music orchestra. He was one of the co-founders of the Montreal Marché de la poésie and is currently the director of Exit, a poetry journal, as well as literary editor at Éditions Mains libres. He has published several poetry collections, among others : Engoulevents, Au milieu du vacarme and Garder le feu. In 2021 his novel Fretless was published by Éditions Mains libres, along with his most recent poetry collection Paroles biologiques, at Écrits des Forges. His poems have been translated into several languages, among others: Spanish, Italian, English, German and Russian.
